User Group Classifications Affect Priority, Fee for Building Use
 
Five classifications are in priority order for use of school district buildings, stadiums, theaters

Each classification defines the type of group that qualifies for its priority level and fee schedule. This page provides the detail needed to determine your group’s user classification. Group two encompasses two priority levels, so there are six priority levels within the five classifications.

Group I – School-oriented groups

  • First Priority: School-oriented groups that exist primarily because of the school program. It includes:
      • curricular and extra-curricular student groups,
      • the associated student body,
      • PTSA,
      • staff unions or other staff groups, and
      • citizen advisory groups.

Group II – Non-profit youth organizations with members residing within the Lake Washington School District

  • Second Priority: Cities with whom the district has a joint-use interlocal agreement
  • Third Priority: Local community youth organizations with a membership roster at least 65 percent of whom live within the boundaries of Lake Washington School District. Examples include:
      • Boys & Girls Club,
      • YMCA and YWCA,
      • youth sports leagues such as soccer leagues or Little League,
      • 4-H Club,
      • Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and
      • Camp Fire.

Group III – Non-profit adult organizations residing within the Lake Washington School District

  • Fourth Priority: Adult non-profit organizations that have as their prime focus the interests and needs of the local community and whose membership roster demonstrates at least 65 percent of its members reside or work within the boundaries of Lake Washington School District. This category also includes state and local agencies with which the district does not have a joint-use interlocal agreement. Examples, if they meet the 65 percent requirement, include:
      • community clubs,
      • League of Women Voters,
      • service clubs,
      • senior citizen groups, and churches

Group IV – Other non-profit organizations

  • Fifth Priority: Other non-profit organizations that do not meet the requirement of 65 percent of members living or working within the boundaries of the district.

Group V – Other adult organizations

  • Sixth Priority: Private and commercial groups including semi-professional groups, private social groups, etc. For-profit or commercial groups are not permitted to use district facilities without the prior approval of the Board of Directors.
