Visitors to the Schools

File: KK-R

In accordance with policy KK's general statements of the district's position regarding visitors to the schools, the following guidelines shall apply to school and classroom visitations:

  1. All visitors to a school and/or classroom must obtain the advance approval of the principal of the building involved, and if the visit is to a classroom, a time shall be arranged after the principal has conferred with the teacher involved.
  2. If the visitation is an observation of classroom activities, the teacher shall be afforded the opportunity of conferring with the classroom observer before and/or following the observations. The principal will notify the observer of this requirement in advance of the visit.
  3. Classroom visitation must not detract from planned classroom activity.
  4. Upon written request, the reason(s) for denying a particular classroom visitation shall be given in writing by the building principal or program coordinator to the person denied visitation, which shall state the procedures available for appeal of that denial to district administrative offices and, in turn, to the district Board of Directors.
