The Washington State Law states that school districts are not required to provide transportation of students to and from school except for selected handicapped students. If the district provides transportation, then students may not be required to walk more than two miles.

All students living within a one (1) mile radius or less from school shall walk unless acceptable conditions outlined in the accompanying rules are not met. This distance will be measured as a radius of one mile from the school as determined by the Transportation Department.

The criteria to be used by the Transportation Department in determining acceptable walking and riding conditions is incorporated in the rules accompanying this policy.
