In the interest of student, staff, and visitor safety and the reasonable protection of district property, the board advises the following:

  1. A maximum speed limit of 10 miles per hour for all vehicles is hereby established on all school district properties.
  2. Direction of traffic flow on school district properties shall be established through appropriate signs.
  3. Parking is prohibited, restricted, or limited at such places on school district property as indicated by appropriate signs or markings.

In order to accomplish the above, the school district shall post in a reasonable manner those areas where restrictions or limitations apply. The administrator of support services or designee shall determine the nature and the extent of such restrictions at each school and shall direct appropriate staff to properly post specified areas. The building principals or their designee(s) shall seek the services of the local police department in the enforcement of appropriate vehicle and traffic regulations.

The only exemption from parking regulations shall apply to school buses in the act of picking up or discharging passengers; emergency vehicles in the performance of their normal functions; and properly marked district vehicles performing necessary and normal functions.

Current practice codified 1988
