  1. All building-level research must be conducted with the full knowledge and consent of the building principal, in order to ensure that district procedures for the protection of the rights and welfare of students and staff members are followed.
  2. Research should not interfere with the teaching and learning environment. The least intrusive method of data collection should be used. Sound research design will be expected. Review and approval by the administrator of assessment and evaluation may be required, especially if research involves experimental design, test data analysis, or student interviews.
  3. Formal research (thesis, dissertation and university or other research organization staff) requires the approval of the superintendent or his designee.
  4. Procedures shall be in accordance with the guidelines for the protection of human subjects, taken from the current uniform Code of Federal Regulations, 45 CFR Subtitle A.
